Why Neutral Paint Colours Work Best

Why Neutral Paint Colours Work Best

Category: News

When does something become too much? For most of us, it’s a completely purple house that makes us feel we’ve entered Alice’s Wonderland. We may love our favourite colour and want to be surrounded by it because “it makes me so happy”. The truth is that it’s a bad decision to go completely quirky and use bright, flamboyant colours to paint your walls. As boring as it may seem at the time, neutral colours are the best option when painting your walls and here’s why:

Return on your investment

If you decide to sell your home in the future, you don’t want it looking like the inside of a circus tent. Outrageous colours such as reds, purples and dark blues are difficult to paint over.

Highlight your finishings and textures

Textures in the home are very easily over looked or forgotten about but making use of neutral coloured walls will help highlight the different textures used in a room like a rough spun rug or a highly polished vase.

Neutral is never boring

When selecting your paint colour, we may think that neutral will become boring over time and a funky bright colour will always be exciting. This isn’t the case; in fact it’s the other way around. Bright colours will become boring very quickly and soon you’ll be out looking for different colour paint.

Accessorising

Neutral coloured walls will give you the gift of many accessorising opportunities. Vibrant colours are awesome and show off your personality, the best way to make your favourite colour stand out, is to use a neutral backdrop.

Warmth

Neutral coloured walls not only help to make a room look bigger and more sophisticated, they also make a room more warm and welcoming. Neutral colours are comfortable colours and will make your home inviting to all your guests.
