Are you getting ready for your show day?

Remember that the best way to get the highest traffic through your home at one time, is to put your home on show!

Here is a list of useful tips of things to think about when you decide to sell your home and put it on show.

  • Lock away all your valuables i.e. jewelry, perfumes, laptops etc.
  • Get rid of clutter – don’t stuff it away, rather sell or donate it to the poor.
  • Dirt is a turnoff – check behind furniture, light fittings, skirting’s, under cupboards & beds etc.
  • Take pets out for the day or put them in the kennel for the day.
  • Clean stains off carpeting and upholstery.
  • Repaint wherever necessary, indoors and out.
  • Repair anything broken.
  • Polish up the floors
  • Spruce up the cupboards with new paper and freshener, clean and tidy well.
  • Invest in one set of new “showday” towels.
  • Attach a new brass number on your garden wall.
  • Replace any broken handrails, doorknobs or door handles.
  • Put 2 beautiful pot plants inside, or by the front door.
  • Clean out all storage space – make it look like there’s plenty of space and fresh air.
  • Open and clean all windows / fix broken windows
  • Dust the ceiling and all the corners, skirtings and pelmets.
  • Add the homely touch – the smell of muffins, chocolates on the coffee table, play soft music, fruit & biscuits on the kitchen counter.
  • Put out fresh flowers, fresh soap and spray all the rooms.
  • Replace broken light bulbs / light fittings and plugs
  • Put away the washing from the washing line
  • Make all beds
  • Clean dirty toilets / broken toilet seats / rings in the bath
  • Wash and put away all dirty dishes in the kitchen
  • Mow your garden, get rid of dead plants and cut back overgrown plants
  • Keep the space as light as possible by opening curtains and putting lights on
