Summertime is here and what better time to spruce up your home's interior with some summer-inspired design trends than now? This season is all about introducing colours, patterns and pieces to your home that are bright and fresh, and designs that make the most of the warmer weather.

With there being so many décor and design trends to choose from this season, we've decided to narrow it down to the top 4 interior design trends that are making waves this summer:

Don't be afraid of bright/bold colours

2019 is all about introducing bright colours into your living spaces and what better time to embrace colour than summer? The biggest interior design trends of the summer encourage incorporating bold and bright colours into your home and rooms, be it in the form of colourful scatter cushions, carpets or furniture pieces. There are so many wonderful revitalising summer colours to choose from this season, including the dynamic 2019 colour of the year - living coral, which is guaranteed to add a fresh, summery feel to any space that it is featured in. Other popular colours this season include mustard and bolder jewel tones such as indigo blue and emerald green.

Texture

Another design trend which has seen a rise in popularity is the incorporation of textures in one's home decor. As using sustainably sourced and eco-friendly products continues to gain popularity, so to has the move towards incorporating natural and raw materials in home décor. Natural and raw materials often come in the form of hand-woven, textured fabrics and textiles; as well as hand carved and handmade items which tend to favour a more tactile, textured feel. Incorporating texture into your home's décor can also contribute to that laid-back, airy summery feel.

Mid century

The mid-century design trend has a specific focus on sleek silhouettes, woods, bright colours and that retro-esque feel that never really goes out of style. Characterised by asymmetrical shapes, abstract feel and simplicity, mid-century designs, especially furniture, can be a feature in any room and add a refreshing element to any space in which they are placed.

Patterns

Patterns never truly go out of style and you couldn't pick a better time to incorporate some patterns into your home's décor than during the summer season - especially with the wide variety of summer-inspired patterns which you can choose from. You can incorporate more traditional floral and tropical patterns for a summery feel or if you prefer a more understated or modern look, you can go for geometric style patterns.

Mixed patterns have also seen a revival in 2019, experiment with mixing patterns in your home by introducing patterned wallpapers, upholstery, scatter cushions or art pieces. Just be sure not to overstep and add too many different patterns in one area as this can cause your spaces to become overcrowded.

With these summer-inspired design trends, you can give your home a stunning summer makeover in no time.
