😶‍🌫️Clearing the Fog - By Jonathan Broekman

In Johannesburg every November, there's a noticeable acceleration in the rhythm of daily life. The rush to complete projects before a break results in heightened stress levels. How can we navigate this frenzy? If you are feeling overwhelmed, try consider clearing the Fog...

Before you engage in anything that requires your time, ask yourself:

FOG
F - Is it a fact?
O - Is it an opinion?
G - Is it gossip?

"Clearing the fog" is an idiomatic expression that refers to removing confusion or uncertainty about a situation. It implies gaining clarity or understanding by eliminating any ambiguity or misunderstanding.

When someone says they're "clearing the fog," they usually try to provide a more straightforward explanation or understanding of a particular topic or situation. This expression is commonly used in contexts where there is confusion, uncertainty, or lack of clarity, and it emphasises the process of bringing clarity to a complex or confusing situation.

"An essential guide" (Mark Hyman, author of Young Forever ) to navigating life with the cognitive and mental health impairments often accompanying Long Covid.

Socrates' Philosophy

Similarly, clearing the F.O.G. and Socrates' philosophies share a common thread in promoting critical thinking and discernment in communication. Both frameworks encourage individuals to evaluate the nature of information before expressing or believing it. In today's society, where information is so freely distributed, this sage line of question could not be more apt.

Ask yourself:
Is it Necessary?
Is it Positive?
Is it Kind?

Socrates: Nurturing the Essence of Necessity, Positivity, and Kindness

Both these philosophies can be applied to business, family and friendship drama's. We need to take stock of the people around us that we care about, each with their own backstories and quirks. Can we adapt ourselves to focus on the positive and blow off the things that push our buttons?

Life is short, so I will leave you with this. Imagine that person is no longer around. How would you have approached the little time you had with them?
