Chemical Free Cleaning

Most of our indoor air pollution comes from the harmful chemicals we use to clean our countertops, ovens, floors, stoves, and bathrooms. While cleaning we inhale the harmful fumes from these products. Surely there must be an easier, less harmful, and more natural way to clean our homes?
Below is our list of four chemical-free home cleaners that you can make yourself.

For the Toilet:
It’s no surprise that the bathroom is a home to many germs. You probably want to pay most of your attention to the toilet and you can find all the ingredients for this chemical-free natural cleaning aid in your home.
Recipe
For a fresh and germ-free toilet, pour ½ cup of baking soda, 10-15 drops of tea tree oil and then ¼ cup of vinegar into the bowl. Grab the toilet brush and scrub the bowl while the mixture fizzes the germs away.

A General Disinfectant and Floor Cleaner:
There are certain areas in our home we’d like to disinfect regularly, bathroom floors, bathtubs and showers come to mind.
Recipe
Mix together 2 cups of hot water, 25 drops of tea tree oil and a cup of vinegar together to mop the germs away.

For Kitchen Counters:
This one is quite simple and will even help you to get flies, ants, and pesky fruit flies out of your kitchen. In a spray bottle, mix equal parts of water and white vinegar together, spray and wipe with a kitchen cloth. If you have marble or stone countertops, replace the vinegar with vodka as the acidity of vinegar can be harmful to the stone.

For Windows and Mirrors:
Little splashes of water can make your windows and mirrors appear neglected. To keep them sparkling clean, combine 1 part white vinegar with 4 parts of water and a touch of lemon juice into a spray bottle. Spray on the glass and wipe them down with newspaper.

And there you have it, four brilliant, affordable, and natural recipes for the toughest areas to clean in your home. Moving towards a greener home starts with a few small changes that ripple into a big difference. Cleaning with these alternatives makes a big difference to the environment and to your health.
